Game 1 Snipers @ Major League


Snipers got four in the opening frame as Glen Hipple led off with a single and Dave Shannon followed by doing the same. Hipple was then knocked in by a Mike Z single, Shannon on a base hit by Kevin Finn. Z and Finn then were both driven home by John Westover. Major league went down in order in the bottom half.

Hipple led off the second with a triple, then scored when Dave Shannon followed with a single. Major League got their first run in the bottom half on a Matt Grill home run. Each team scored a run in the third as well. Snipers got theirs when Josh Lyons singled and eventually scored on an error. Billy Kelly reached on an error and scored for Major League.

The Snipers got four more in the fourth. Dave Shannon and Mike Z hit back to back singles. Rich Strapple doubled them in, then scored on a Kevin Finn single. Finn got home on a John Westover hit. They got their final run the next inning when Glen Hipple reached on an error and later scored on a Mike Z double.

Major League waited until the bottom seventh to rally. John Rowe and Rick Constantine opened with back to back doubles. Constantine then scored when Matt Kelly reached on an error. That was it though.

Game 2 Snipers @ Thunder

 

The Snipers opened the scoring in the first with Dave Shannon singling and scoring on a Kevin Finn sacrifice. That run was lonely until Shannon hit a solo homer for them in the top fifth.

It looked as if those two runs might do it for the Snipers until the Thunder woke up in the bottom seventh. Chris Day led off with a single and scored two batters later on an Ed O'Neill single. Chris Disanto then got on via a single; John Miller reached on a fielder's choice. Rob Naedrop then became a hero by knocking Disanto and Miller in by hitting a walk off double.

Lukens Park

Game 1 Balco @ Squirrel Murphy's

 

Balco got going by scoring three in the first. Dan Schaeffer and Tom Lydon both singled. Schaeffer then scored when Rob McKenna got on via an error. Kevin Rosen then loaded the bases by walking. Lydon scored on an RBI walk by Glen Stratte. McKenna got in on a Ryan Harper single.

Squirrel Murphy's responded by scoring two in the bottom half. Phil Bandini reached on a fielder's choice and Brian Sassano followed with a single. Bandini then scored on a Jim Ulmer single, Sassano on an Anthony Braciszewski knock.

The next offense came in a five run spurt in the bottom fourth. Ryan Oberholtzer led off for Squirrel Murphy's with a single. Mike Mackley also got a base hit. Oberholtzer scored on a Chris Beatty single. Mackley and Beatty then scored when Phil Bandini hit a three run homer. Brian Sassano followed with a triple, scoring on a Jim Ulmer single.

Balco got back in it in the top fifth by plating two. Tom Lydon reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Rob McKenna single. McKenna eventually got moved around the bases and scored himself.

Gregg Wilson led off the bottom fifth for Murphy's with a single and eventually scored an insurance run. That was it for the game though.

Whistlestop Park

Game 2 No Big Deal @ Rosengren

 

NBD opened the game with 3 straight singles by Brendan Cooney, Mike Strum, and Bob Tumelty, Tumelty's knock scoring Cooney. Bill Richards doubled Tumelty and Strum in, and later scored himself when Tim Hall reached on an error, giving them four for the inning.

They added three in the second as Bob Curto led off with a walk and Nick Bellucci followed with a single. Brendan Cooney singled Curto in but was put out on the base path. Mike Strum then tripled Bellucci home and later scored on a Frank Trymbiski single.

Rosengren got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second with Bud Schwarz reaching base on a fielder's choice and later scoring on a John Mueller single.

NBD had their smallest inning in the top third, only scoring one. Rob Moran singled then scored on a Bob Curto Knock. Rosengren responded with their biggest inning in the bottom half, plating three. Steve Rosengren led off with a solo homer. After an Elmer Wiley fly out, Richard Stead and Brett Rumor reached on back to back singles. Stead scored when Lewis Floyd reached on an error, Rumor on a Bud Schwarz single.

NBD revved it up again in the top fourth, putting 5 more on the board. Brendan Cooney reached on an error and Mike Strum followed with a single. Cooney scored when Bob Tumelty reached on an error. Bill Richards then tripled Strum and Tumulty home. Richards scored when the next batter, Matt Bentz singled. Bentz scored when Rob Moran reached on a fielder's choice.

Rosengren the team manufactured a run in the bottom fourth when Steve Rosengren the player reached on an error. He advanced on an Elmer Wiley double, then scored on a Richard Stead Ground out.

NBD followed with an outburst in the fifth, scoring eight and more than batting around. Nick Bellucci led off with a double then scored with Brendan Cooney following with a two bagger of his own. Mike Strum single him in then was joined on base by Bob Tumulty who got a base hit as well. Frank Trymbiski then tripled Strum and Tumulty home. Bill Richards knocked Trymbiski in with a single. Matt Bentz then replaced Richards on base by hitting into a fielder's choice. Tim Hall singled, as did Rob Moran, which scored Bentz. In Bellucci's second at bat of the inning he reached on an error, allowing Hall and Moran to score. Brendan Cooney then singled. Trymbiski then tripled Bellucci and Cooney home for NBD's final two runs.

Rosnegren had a brief two out rally in the bottom fifth. John Mueller singled and was driven home by a Frank Staber double. Staber scored when the next batter, Steve Rosengren singled. That was it for the game though.
