A (de) can be used as a replacement for the mandatory 3rd female in the field at the catcher position only and will apply to any coed leagues in which the (de) plays. A (de) can never take the place of a female eddie in the batting line-up. Designated eddie status is reversible after 1 calendar year (3 full softball seasons).

Ron Bannister and Warren Grant were listed among the men's league all-stars in 2007. As per league rules, both will be designated as core players for the 2008 softball year. Existing male eddie Steve Campbell was listed among the men's league all-stars in 2007. As per league rules, Steve will be designated as a core player for the 2008 softball year. *Quote:* MENS LEAGUE EDDIES: Any eddie making all-star in the mens league will be required to forfeit eddie status along with any advantages inherent in being an eddie. The players all-star and eddie designations will cancel each other out and the player will then be designated as a core player in the coed leagues. This eddie-turned-core player will remain such for any year following being named on the mens league all-star list. If, at the completion of any year, the eddie-turned-core player either fails to make the mens all-star list or does not play in the mens league, a manager can petition the league to have the core players eddie status reinstated. Any female player that feels compelled to play in any mens league will immediately earn the designation of mens league player and thus forfeit eddie status until the year of her 52nd birthday.

Having enough at-bats to qualify last year and not being listed among the top 110 players in the men's or top 80 players in the coed league in 2007, Chris's release from the all-star restricted list is in line with league policy.
