Recaps for May 1, 2008
Game 1 - Penny Gardens - 7, Griffin Drywall - 4
The first game of the week saw a defensive battle and Penny Gardens come out on top with a 7-4 win over Griffin Drywall. Penny opened up a 6-0 lead after three innings and held off a rally from Griffin as they scored three times in the fourth and once in the seventh to fall just short, 7-4.
Leading Penny Garden's was Frank Hackett with a double and two runs scored including the 500th run scored of his career. Paul Loveland added three hits including a double, triple and home run along with four RBI's and three runs scored in the win.
For Griffin Jeff Boyda had two hits and a run scored, B. Burris added two hits and a two-run home run, and D. Kusters totaled two hits and a run scored in the loss.
Game 2 - Q.E.D. - 11, Poole's Skyline Tavern - 4
The second game of the evening saw Q.E.D. scored nine of its 11 runs in two innings leading them to an 11-7 win over Poole's Skyline Tavern. They increased a 2-1 lead into a 7-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning with five runs and added four runs in the seventh to provide the final margin.
Leading Q.E.D. was Darrin Posavec with two hits, three runs and a home run. Shawn Remish added two doubles and a run scored, Joe Santucci totaled three hits and a run scored and Tom Pagel had three hits and a run scored.
Poole's Skyline Tavern got two hits including a home run from Ryan and Nick and Dickey each had two hits in the loss.
Game 3 - Protech Roofing - 14, Rosengren's - 12
The second to last game of the night saw Protech Roofing hold off a seventh inning rally from Rosengren's to take home a 14-12 win. Rosengren's cut the lead down to two with a two-run home run in the seventh but stranded a two-out double to fall by two runs. Protech scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that proved very important in the win.
Leading Protech was Drew Dimino with two home run and six RBI's including a second inning grand slam. John Muntz had three hits and one run scored, EW Werner had two hits and a run scored, Rob Johnson reached base four times had a home run and scored three times and Jeff Hess also had a home run and a run scored.
Rosengren's got three hits and four runs scored from Frank Staber, a two-run homer from Matt Schaub and Blaine Forkell had two hits and two runs in the loss.
Game 4 - Horsham Inn - 21, Acteon - 7
The final game of the evening saw Horsham Inn record an easy 21-7 win over Acteon. Leading 9-7 after four innings, Horsham scored four times in the fifth and seven times in the sixth open up a 20-7 lead and never looked back from there.
Leading the Inn was Mike Sheerin with four hits and four runs, Dave McGuire with five hits, four runs and five runs scored, John McCabe with two hits and four RBI's, and Jamison Walsh with three hits and three runs scored.
Acteon was led by Mickey with two hits and two runs scored. He also added three RBI's. Brian added two hits and a run and Pat had two doubles and an RBI.
