With a hard fought fall season behind them, Irish Car Bombs and The Horse Tavern and Grille have come face to face to see who will be crowned the B Division National Conference Champs. And more importantly, who will be sporting a slick new T-shirt come spring!

Irish Car Bombs were the heavy favorite, having gone 7-1 during the regular season, but quickly had their backs against the wall and found out that the Horse had come to play.

Game 1:
The Horse got on the board first, in the first, when Nick Cordisco got a 2 RBI single.
They tacked 1 more on in the second when Ryan Davis ripped a triple, and Brad Davis singled him home. They kept their foot on the gas in the 3rd when they picked up 3 more. Rich Cordisco had the big blow when he picked up a 2 RBI single and Nick then added his 3rd RBI with a sac fly. Matt Bechtel, Mike Moore, Trevor Jones and Jen Cordisco all picked up hits in the inning.
The Horse really put the game out of hand in the 4th when they scored 5 more times. Matt Bechtel, Kevin Firth and Rich and Nick Cordisco all singled. ICB’s SS had a rough inning and his 2 errors led to the other runs.
After 4, 11-0, the Horse.
The Horse added one more in the 6th and ICB put a late rally together in the 7th and scored 3 times. Jen Hicks and Jim Lawson both had singles in the 7th. It was a case of too little too late though as The Horse convincingly took game 1, 12-4.

Could ICB’s season of dominance come to an end? Would the Horse pull off the amazing upset? To game 2 we go…

Game 2:
The Irish Car Bombs got on the board quickly in this game, plating 3 in the first. Ed Breen started things off with a triple, and after 2 walks, Claudia Cassaveccia picked up a big single. An RBI groundout later, and the 3rd run would score.
The Horse answered with two of their own in the 1st. Matt Bechtel, Kevin Firth and Nick Cordisco all picked up singles.
Both teams stayed off the scoreboard in the 2nd and 3rd.
ICBs’ big inning came in the 4th when they crossed the plate 5 times. Mike Foley, Ed Breen, and Steve Gotchshall all had big doubles. Neil Hebert, Scott Grabus, Claudia Cassaveccia and Chrissy Malone all picked up singles in the scoring effort.
ICB added 1 more in the 6th and that would be all they needed.
The Horse sprinkled in 3 more runs along the way, but ended up 3 runs short. Game 2 goes to the Irish Car Bombs, 9-6.

Game 3:
The Horse had trouble getting the sticks going in this one, being shutout through the first 3 innings.
ICB didn’t have those issues, as they scored 6 times in that time frame. 3 in the first, 3 in the 3rd. Scott Grabus picked up a huge 2 run double in the first, and Claudia Cassaveccia also picked up an RBI via a groundout.
The third inning featured some more power from ICB as Ed Breen and Jim Lawson picked up doubles. Scott Grabus then smashed a 2 run HR and after 3, ICB were up 6-0.
The Horse did cut the lead in half in the 4th. Their scoring came courtesy of 3 doubles by Mike Moore, Rich Cordisco and Nick Cordisco, and 3 singles from Trevor Jones, Jen Cordisco and Ryan Davis.
Sensing a rally from the Horse, ICB added some insurance in the 5th. They scored 4 more times, with the big blow, Scott Grabus picking up RBIs 5 and 6 with a single. Cassaveccia also picked up her 2nd RBI with a single.
The 6th and 7th innings were full of goose-eggs, and with the champagne waiting on ice, Wayne Wiley got Matt Bechtel to ground back to him, and ICB could celebrate their fall season B Division National Conference SBA championship!
