Week 12 proved to be one very exciting week and the pins were flyin. To start, Bill Little hurls a 300 game (his 25th lifetime) down on lanes 1 and 2. Ive never witnessed one before and, Wow, that was cool. Dan McGlynn left a solid 10-pin enroute to an awesome 299. Dave Herbert carved out a nifty 283 and Ed Doyle, Jr. opened some eyes with a 270.
Baddabing keeps pace with Team Hooven. Everyone else in the East has been KOd from contention. Baddabing goes up against Moe, Larry, and Curly while Team Hooven faves the School Marms.
The Dirtballs are smokin hot right now as they burn the pants off the Schleps and storm into 1st place in the West. The Dirtballs and the Schleps are in a 2-team race going into the final week. The Schleps play The Church Mice. Dirtballs face Ménage à trois.
The Split Fillers have clinched the North divisional title. Team Hagan has clinched the South divisional title. Both will face one another in the conference semis in 2 weeks.
March 2nd begins the playoffs along with an open bowling cash prize tournament. Everyone bowls. The playoffs will match up the divisional winners of each conference -- East vs. West and North vs. South. The rest of us will bowl for prize money in an open total points with handicap tournament. Playoff teams can also join the tournament if that is their choice.
The tournament will cost $17.00 per person ($5.00 per bowler + regular bowling dues of $12.00) and will feature cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place. The team with the highest 3-game point total (with handicap) takes top money. Now, depending on the number of teams entering, 1st place could be over $400.00. 2nd place could be more than $200.00.
The following tournament rules shall apply
Tournament teams are NOT required to be the same teams as during regulation play. If a few teams want to change things around, that is fine. If only 2 members of 1 team and only 1 member of another team can attend the tournament, those players can combine to make 1 team. The only requirement here is that each team consists of 3 persons with established Bowling America league handicaps. League subs are welcome to join in as they have established Bowling America league handicaps.
All teams MUST notify the league office by Friday, February 29th of their intention to enter the tournament. Re-arranged teams must also submit a roster.
Pre-bowling for this tournament is out of the question. You must be in attendance to enter.
It should be a lot of fun. It should also be exciting. Theres some green on the table for the team that can step up to the plate for an entire series.
The following week (March 9th) begins the Bowling Championship where the winners of each Conference play one another for 1st and 2nd league prize money. The rest of us will, once again, bowl for prize money in a 2nd open total points with handicap tournament. Playoff teams can join this tournament as well if that is their choice.
Once again, ANY and ALL teams that wish to enter the tournament on the 2nd and 9th of March must contact the league office of their intention to enter. We can set the automatic scorer up for only the teams we know will be bowling. Dont miss the boat on this. Send in your team confirmation email early.
