Team Hooven battle gamely in a very tough division throughout the regular season. They battled in the 1-game roll-off. They steamrolled through the semi-finals and after losing the middle game last night by 1 pin, batted back to take the league title over Split Fillers. A total team effort it was. Kelly Neill hurled a 494. Mike Hagan threw in a 212 and 187. Lora Hoovens 148 and 139 helped seal the deal. Their efforts not only garnered the league crown, but nailed 2nd place in the cash tourney. Kelly and Mike are the first-ever repeat bowling champions.
In the consolation match to determine 3rd place, the Dirtballs snuffed out Team Hagan with relative ease. Steve Reilly carried the balls of smut with a nifty 568. RJ chipped in with a 180 in Game 1.
1st place in the money tournament went to the team of Alleyoops Oops. Chirstine Razzi, known also as Christine X in some bowling circles, tossed a very nice 502. Vicki Ponente chipped in with a pair of 150+ games as did hubby Ron Spillman with a 199.
All in all it was a fun year of off-season bowling. I dont know about you, but even though I bowled like a spaz, bowling still made the dreary off-season months go by just a little quicker. T-Bird manager Bill Little was great throughout the season by doing whatever had to be done to make things run smoothly. Many times he allowed our league to take some bowling liberties and I let him know it was appreciated.
Its now time to PLAY BALL!
