Quarry Scoreboard |

Well... I've got good news and bad news about the Quarry scoreboard that was hit by lightning last Saturday. The good news is the defective module
was shipped out, serviced, and sent back today. We reinstalled it and still have nothing. It could be awhile without a scoreboard.

Yep. In fact, they've been keeping a running count on the Scoreboard Outage Scoreboard, which has miraculously survived several lightning strikes and a
crash with an ocean liner.

With any luck the board will be operational for Friday Coed. It seems not only did the board get hit, but the lightning surge traveled back to the keyboard
and fried the communication chip.

Well, scoreboard luck was not with us as the keyboard came back from the scoreboard service company inoperable. After replacing the AC adapter as they
suggested and having it fail once again, back to the service department in Kentucky it went. It seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is
doing over there. Unfortunately, I don't have any options on where I can send it for repair.
Tim O'Shea, who was in the parking lot when the lightning hit, said it hit the top of the pole the scoreboard is mounted on. The bolt traveled down the wet pole into the scoreboard itself and then back to the keyboard in the shed. Lots of damage all around. Joe Burke said he will install a grounding rod on the tallest pole out there and then another one at the shed. Hopefully, this will keep the lightning at bay in the future. I know everyone is anxious to get the board operational - no moreso than me. Believe me, I'm doing all I can. I've already gone through $150.00 in overnight shipping costs. At least this time around the shipping costs will be on them. With any good luck it'll be up and running by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. |

Spoke to the main man, big cheese, top dog of the scoreboard company yesterday. He's the one that is now handling things for me. It seems the
microprocessor was bad this time around. I asked, "Weren't the friggin' parts tested when it was in for repair last week"? He repied,
"Evidently not". Un be-f'n-lievable! The scoreboard is now operational... at least it was as of 2:30 pm today.
