Line-ups # ??????? |

Manager's we need last names in the line-ups espeacially in week #1. I got a new team to the league listing just 1st names with a couple with a last initial. If you are new to the league I don't know who a Steve H. or Amy K. is. I need more info. Also a reminder, no nicknames.

I have seen postings like this a million times on this site. Some managers may not read the message board. So that is why you guys are having continues problems. Why don't the score keepers give their lineup back and tell them to put last names on them. Your probloems will be solved.

The scorers do try to get the names. But another way to solve it is if the managers actually realize that the league officials don't know EVERY member of the league. Especially the new teams. This is the only league that I've played in that the managers seem to expect the scorers & every other person that needs the names to know who they are. Another way of solving it is that if you don't list a last name the player doesn't get the credit for the game to make him eligible for the playoffs even after we find out who it is.

Thanks. Mostly Sunday nights. That's also the night we have the most teams & the most new teams. I've just been going through this every season since "99. It gets a little frustrating. We only get partial names & then I get complaints that the stats are being given to the wrong guy or not given because the changes were never given. I've had some fun e-mails over the years. Sorry for going off.

Most scorekeepers do ask the manager for last names
I ask them the first week for first and last names why should we have to remind them each week. I think some mangers need to be more orginized. It's easier for them just to put first names and not worry about the last names. |

Most managers I've noticed are always rushing 3 seconds before the game to put a final roster or names together. They show up not having the slightest idea who will be there or who's getting there on time. I agree with the scorekeepers, I've noticed the increased efforts in trying to get names for everyone, and it's a joint effort with trying to get articles done. Very hard to acknowledge your on the field accomplishments when we have no idea who you are or even your name. It begins with the managers. As a manager myself, I know we are urged and have been urged to even submit rosters before the start of the season or at least 5 minutes before the start of the game. I am certain if managers get their line-ups done a little earlier...the scorekeepers would do their job, as will the journalists. I know some come from work, and some have other things to do, but managing was a choice, a choice and responsability that individual manager chose.

thats is correct. It isn't that hard to write peoples last name. It will take them a whole 2 mins longer. The line-ups should be done before you arive at the field. I understand you might have to make changes but at least if you have it done ahead of time and it will take you 2 mins instead of 10 mins. I am not putting the scorekeepers down. I was just suggesting something to make it easier for everyone.

Quote:Thank you, Mike. I think that will be very helpful. I will be posting a link to the letter and spreadsheet in the event a manager cares to download and print copies. |

No problem sorry about typo's in the email. That is why I work with numbers not letters. LOL. I will deliver them Sunday morning for both men's and coed. I will drop the rest on each day during the week.
To all managers: I am sorry if I insult anyone by given you these spreadsheets. I know most of you have been in this league for a long time and know what you are doing. I am going to give it to every team, not to insult your intelligence, but to put every team on the same page. Everyone working for the league is putting in alot of their personal time into the league. Just want to make it easier for everyone. Thank you for your time Mike |
