Quote:Regardless of what may be written in the ASA and SBA rules, Softball America league law shall now be governed in much the same manner as general military law. Conduct unbecoming any league member will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and with serious consequences. Those of you that have rifts with league officials or other league members had best settle those rifts in a hurry or you will find yourself on the outside of the league looking in. Fights, threats, obnoxious behavior, etc. will not be tolerated under any circumstances. League members found guilty of conduct unbecoming shall be punished as a panel of league officials may direct with lengthy suspensions and/or league ejections.
United States Code
Title 10: Armed Forces
Subtitle A: General Military Law
Part II: Personnel
Chapter 47: Uniform Code Of Military Justice
Subchapter X: Punitive Articles
Section: 933
Article 133: Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.
Any commissioned officer, cadet, or midshipman who is convicted of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
Everyone knows an umpire can eject a player from a game in order to maintain control of the game. Not everyone knows an umpire is responsible for what happens on the ball field grounds before a game, during a game, between games, and after a game. An umpire not only has the right, but an obligation to the league and its members to maintain control at all times and may, at their discretion, address conduct unbecoming the league by issuing game suspensions before, during, and after games.
Softball is a game and nothing more.
