Let me know if you get tired of these things.
1. A delivery by the pitcher hits the ground in front of the plate and the umpire calls out 'BALL', but the pitch skips over the plate and
the batter slams it over the right field wall. Is this a homer?
2. The batter hits a pop fly behind second base with runners at first and third with one out. The second baseman camps under the ball, then steps aside and
deliberately allows it to fall untouched. The batter, assuming he would be an easy out, does not run on the play. The second baseman picks up the ball and
fires it to the first baseman who tags the runner on first, then the bag. How many are out?
3. On a hard infield smash, the pitcher snares the ball, but the force of the hit entangles the ball in the glove webbing. To save time, the pitcher tosses
the glove with the ball still in it to the first baseman, who steps on the bag ahead of the runner. Is the batter out?

1 out ---- but i have two questions... the batter didnt run, what did he/she do?? AND is the runner on 1b when the pitch released still on the bag as he/she is tagged as how i read the question....(the batter is out--- the batter did not run, so Im assuming he/she started to walk toward the bench--- no forward progress on the way to first (no other base tho), or in the direction of the dug out is deemed an out (am I making this up?) the force is then taken off and if the runner is still on the first base bag then he/she is still considered safe)... Out One other question is the batter RJ? (The batter, assuming he would be an easy out, does not run on the play) |

The batter-runner was dogging it on the way to first.

crap.... so is the runner still on 1b when tagged? if so the batter-runner is out. the runner on first is still safe because they did not advance on the play,
but he/she is still on a bag considered to be "safe". once the fielder stepped on first the force was taken off the runner originally on 1b, and that
runner may remain on the 1b.
now if the runner was off the bag and tagged OUT #1 and then 1B fielder stepped on 1B... OUT # 2..... and Im still assuming the batter-runner is RJ.

1. In baseball its a homer, but I believe in softball the ball is dead once it hits the ground.
2. If the batter turns around to go to the dugout/bench he is out. If he is dogging down the line it is a double play. The first baseman tug the runner first and then the bag - double play. If the first baseman tug the bag first and the runner was standing on the bag then only the batter is out because the force is taken away. 3. yes batter is out as long as the first baseman has control of the glove with ball in it. |

1. A delivery by the pitcher hits the ground in front of the plate and the umpire calls out "Ball", but the pitch skips over the plate and
the batter slams it over the right field wall. Is this a homer?
1A. Yes in hardball and fastpitch softball. No in slow-pitch softball.
2. The batter hits a pop fly behind second base with runners at first and third with one out. The second baseman camps under the ball, then steps aside
and deliberately allows it to fall untouched. The batter, assuming he would be an easy out, does not run on the play. The second baseman picks up the
ball and fires it to the first baseman who tags the runner on first, then the bag. How many are out?
2A. Both runner and batter are out and the side is retired. The runner would have been protected if the infielder had intentionally dropped the ball.
In this case he did not touch it until it had struck the ground. (6.05l-Approved Ruling, 7.08e)
3. On a hard infield smash, the pitcher snares the ball, but the force of the hit entangles the ball in the glove webbing. To save time, the pitcher tosses the glove with the ball still in it to the first baseman, who steps on the bag ahead of the runner. Is the batter out? 3A. The pitcher fielded the ball legally and since his action in tossing the glove to the first baseman violated no rule, the batter would be out. (6.05j) |

I have one.
The commissioner of a league gets 1000 free samples of Axe spray and hands them out during a coed game. Curious, people start spraying it before the game. On one side the fumes are so strong 8 players on the team die. On the other side the females on the team cant get themselves off the male players and they can not take the field. Who wins or has to forfeit? |
